Story Whoosh
A great activity for story exploration and reflection. It involves all class members and is a fast paced and elective way of covering all main events in a narrative, be it fiction or a non-fiction, topic-based narrative arc.
Masking Tape Worlds
This activity asks your students to map out any location you are exploring in detail using making tape. Students will be able to consider all specific features of a location and to decide where each is in relation to the others. They will then be able layer their world with descriptive language in order to make it their own.
Paired Hot Seating
This is an exercise can be used to explore any character from any text or topic, using and applying any known facts as well as encouraging the use of inference and empathy. It encourages all students to take on the role of interviewer and character, ensuring a class of active learners and opportunities for all to speak and listen.
